Joy News’ Erastus Asare Donkor adjudged GJA Journalist of the Year 2022
The year’s event was under theme: “Leveraging media freedom to sustain the democratic and security architecture: The litmus test of Election 2024”.
Erastus Asare Donkor of the Multimedia Group on Sunday (29 October) emerged as the Journalist of the Year 2022 at the 27th Ghana Journalists Association awards in Accra.
Asare Donkor’s feature, titled: Destruction for Gold, which aired on JoyNews within the year under review, was adjudged the Best News Production for TV.
In the Destruction for Gold documentary, Asare Donkor exposed the greed and some characters behind the wanton destruction of the environment.
The year’s event was under theme: “Leveraging media freedom to sustain the democratic and security architecture: The litmus test of Election 2024”.
This year’s event was presided over by the chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev Dr Ernest Adu Gyamfi, with Jean Mensa, the chairperson of the Electoral Commission, delivering the keynote address.
Prominent figures who attended the award include, the Minister for Information, Kojo Opong Nkrumah, the chairman of the National Media Commission, Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafo, and the US ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer.
