Fulani settlers in Paga attacked, shelters torched
Other valuables including food items, utensils, clothing and an amount of Ghc 700, were also allegedly burned during the raid.
A family of six Fulani living in Paga Badunu in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region was attacked yesterday, Friday (18 November).
The attack is said to have been carried out by an unidentified angry man from the Paga Nyania community, who accused the Fulani of letting their herd of cattle destroy his crops.
Three thatch huts used as rooms by the Fulani were set ablaze and burnt to ashes. Other valuables including food items, utensils, clothing and an amount of Ghc 700, were also allegedly burned during the raid.
No death has been reported. But two members of the family have reportedly sustained minor bodily injuries.
Head of the family, Musah Jallo, told Mike News that the attacker, who had accused them of destroying his crops, arrived at their home in the evening and set their huts on fire.
He said the attacker hit them with club sticks and threatened them to leave the area, as the next raid would be deadly.
Jallo said the incident has since left the family traumatized and living in fear. He said some Fulani elders have lodged a complaint with the police in Paga and were following up to see a finality to the case.
The District local authority and Police are yet to comment on the incident.
