Don’t pay money to anyone – GES cautions parents against SHS placement fraud.

The GES said the Computerised School Placement was merit-based and parents are advised to be wary of such unscrupulous individuals.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned parents and the general public against paying money to unscrupulous persons who may defraud them under the pretext of assisting to secure the preferred schools for their wards.

The GES said the Computerised School Placement was merit-based and parents are advised to be wary of such unscrupulous individuals.

In a statement, the GES said out of the total number of 598,839 results received from WAEC, 585,797 candidates qualified to be placed. A total of 477,772 (81.56%), the GES added, have also automatically been placed in one of their choices of schools.

The GES noted that there was a significant improvement in the placement process this year compared to last year, as over 100,000 more students have been placed.

The GES, however, said 108,025 (18.44%) qualified candidates could not be matched with any of their choices of schools. Such students have, therefore, been directed by the GES to do Self-Placement to select from available schools.

“All students, especially those who could not be matched with their choices during the automatic placement, parents and the general public that all schools with vacancies have been uploaded on the portal for students to select from during self-placement without hitches,”
