The Upper East Regional chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Anthony Namoo, has served notice to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Navrongo to prepare to vacate the Parliamentary seat as the NPP returns for it.
The NPP lost the seat it held on to for a long time to the NDC in the 2020 general elections with a huge margin. The partly was said to have lost the crucial election due to a sharp division within its ranks in the constituency.
Haven gathered, Saturday (2 December) to select a parliamentary candidate to front the party to face off with the NDC which has also elected a new face after booting out the incumbent MP Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, Lawyer Namoo, speaking to Mike Fm during his tour of the constituency voting centre, said the party was working assiduously to build a formidable team after the primary to take back the seat he said belongs to them [NPP].
He stated that election 2024 is going to be a time for the NPP in shine in the region, particulaly in the Navrongo central constituency where the NDC MP has failed to bring the need development and transformation to the people. He was of the view that the people of Navrongo have regretted electing an NDC MP and were looking to kick out the NDC.
He, therefore, urged delegates to ensure peace and unity before and after the process so that the NPP can seal their win and prevent a repeat of what happened in 2020.
