Wulugu: Man battles for his life after robbery attack
Berime Steven was on his way to his hometown in Kpatusi from Wulugu, but was attacked in between Kulinga and the Wulugu stretch of the road.
A 23-year-old young man, Berime Steven, is struggling to survive after he was shot in the chest by armed robbers in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region.
Berime Steven was on his way to his hometown in Kpatusi from Wulugu, but was attacked in between Kulinga and the Wulugu stretch of the road.
According to him, the armed robbers were seven with four of them holding guns while the other three robbers were holding machetes. The incident happened on Wednesday (27 December 2023) between 5pm and 6pm. Steven said a lot of people were attacked on that day.
“They just ordered me to stop and I stopped but immediately. They didn’t even say anything to me; they just started shooting and I fell down. They took my motor, phone, plus my money (GHC6, 000).
“The armed robbers were seven; four had guns and the three were holding cutlasses,” Steven said.
Steven, who is currently at the Walewale Government Hospital, said he feels pains more in his chest anytime he coughs.
“I am feeling some pain in my chest. Anytime I want to cough or breathe, I feel some pain there. But the time that I came here, I couldn’t wake up. I didn’t even know what was going on,” he lamented.
Steven is calling on the Ghana Police Service Municipal Command to ensure that police personnel patrol that stretch of road to ensure safety of the residents and potential travellers.
