MPs stuck in elevator as ECG disconnects power from Parliament
The disconnection was due to a GHc23 million debt which the power distribution company has not been able to retrieve.
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) disconnected power supply to Parliament and Job 600, the office complex of the Members of Parliament Thursday, February 29, 2024, in the forenoon.
The disconnection was due to a GHc23 million debt which the power distribution company has not been able to retrieve.
Lawmakers and staff who were using the elevator at the time got stuck as a result of the power cut.
The disconnection is part of the ongoing “Operation Zero Balance” initiative by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) task force.
The primary goal of this initiative is to recover outstanding debts from various customers, and in this case, Parliament House and Job 600 were targeted due to their substantial debt.
