MPs must be Agents of Development – Robert Aloo
He said even though the job of Members of Parliament is to make laws, they must also lead and be agents of development
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Robert Apechira Aloo has described Members of Parliament as agents of development who must work to bring development to their people and communities.
He said even though the job of Members of Parliament is to make laws, they must also lead and be agents of development who will bring positive change to their people and communities at large.
Speaking on Wednesday’s edition of the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Mike FM, Aloo explained that he intends to propel the development of constituency if the people, on December 7, give him the chance to represent them in Parliament.
He further stated that he has a message of hope for his people which centers on issues of improved roads network, Agriculture, Health care & the provision of potable drinking water for the people. He reiterated that even though the job of an MP is to make laws, he will also play his role as an agent of development to see to it that he delivers on these issues bordering the constituency.
“As an MP your job is to make laws, that is the basic function of an MP, as an MP you enact laws and pass them to govern people. But I tell people as an MP, your core job is not development but the fact that you have been elected by the people, you must be the agent of development. As an agent of development, you must lead the people to wherever the developments are and bring the development to the people”.
Aloo mentioned that he sees the development of his area as a corporate responsibility, the reason he has provided about 33 boreholes to some communities in his constituency.
On his campaign message few days before the election, he is excited that the people are receiving his messages with warm embrace.
“They people have listened to us and bought into our message, a message of hope, a message of bold decisions that we as a government, as a party are bringing on to move Ghana and to move Chiana-Paga to a different pedestal”. He stated.
