President Mahama nominates Donatus Akamugri as Upper East Regional minister designate

Akamugri, who has served as the party regional scribe for 24 years, was nominated in the President's first set of regional ministers.

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Akamugri Donatus Atanga, the upper east regional secretary of the National Democratic Congress, as regional minister designate.

Akamugri, who has served as the party regional scribe for 24 years, was nominated in the President’s first set of regional ministers.

Akamugri has served at different levels in his long career and is expected to bring to the table a wealth of experience to deal with the region’s problems, including the resurging Bawku chieftaincy conflict.

The nominated regional ministers are:

Northern – Adolf John
Oti – John Kwadwo Gyapong
Volta – James Gunu
Eastern – Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjel Awatey
North-East – Ibrahim Tia
Ashanti – Dr. Frank Amoakohene
Upper East – Akamugri Donatus Atanga
Ahafo – Charity Gardiner
Savannah – Salisu Bi-Awuribe
Greater Accra – Linda Ocloo, MP.

The remaining regions awaiting nominations include Bono, Bono East, Central, Western, Western North, and Upper West.
