DCEs weren’t sacked over Bawumia’s performance in their areas- Dan Botwe
The president on Friday (2 February) revoked the appointments of 24 district chief executives (DCE) across the country. No reasons were assigned to the revocation.
President Akufo-Addo’s decision to revoke the appointment of 24 district chief executives is in line with his desire to form a formidable team to prosecute the government agenda, the Minister of Local Government and Decentralisation, Dan Botwe, has said.
The president on Friday (2 February) revoked the appointments of 24 district chief executives (DCE) across the country. No reasons were assigned to the revocation.
Some reports suggest the DCEs were sacked in areas where the 2024 presidential candidate Mahamudu Bawumia performed poorly in the party’s primaries last year.
However, speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday (5 February), Botwe described the reports as false.
“In all the 275 constituencies that the primaries were held, the figures are there, the Electoral Commission and media has the figures, so one will have to rank them from the least to see whether this supports those assertions [reports],” he said.
“It is totally false …” Botwe added.
Meanwhile President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated 26 candidates to be approved as district and municipal chief executives.
