Don’t give up on your goals – Professor Atinga encourages the youth
Professor Atinga recounted his fair share of life struggles during his academic journey including discouragement moments, and added that insistence, perseverance and great focus helped him to attain the highest academic laurel.
Professor Roger Atinga, a senior lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School, has encouraged the youth to not relent in their pursuits to be great men and women.
Speaking on the Boxing Day edition of the Big Mike Breakfast Show, Prof Atinga said one was bound to encounter challenges in the pursuit of life goals. He added that, regardless, one must be able to maneuver through the hurdles and strive to attain the targeted goals.

Professor Atinga is a proud native of Bongo-Beo in the Upper East Region. To him, the discipline his father instilled in him in his early has greatly helped him growing up to better understand certain aspects of life.
“Our father’s discipline made things easy for us in school. When we went to J.S.S, waking up was easy. Going to carry water was even difficult for others, some were not used to the rigors of life, but we saw that as the normal way of life. It was very helpful to us”
For young people, Professor Atinga has urged them to be driven by a life mission, set goals for themselves, remain focused, be disciplined, make maximum use of time and put their best in their endeavors. He also urges them to never cease to leverage on building networks as it was crucial to achieving one’s goals.
Who is Professor Roger Atinga?
Professor Roger A. Atinga is a Senior lecturer at the department of Public Administration and Health Services Management, University of Ghana Business School. He previously worked as Teacher Assistant and an assistant lecturer in the University of Ghana Business School and an intern hospital Administrator at La General Hospital.
He facilitates short courses training for health practitioners at the Centre for Management Research and Professional Development, University of Ghana Business School. He is a consultant on Health Systems Research and Patient Rights Advocacy training for the Ghana Coalition of Health NGOs and a researcher with the NHIS as well.
He has attended several international conferences. He is an author and co-author of several Articles which have been published in international journals. His research interests include healthcare quality, health policy, health insurance, patient empowerment, health sector human resource management and healthcare management.
