Ghanaian socialite and influencer, Andrea Owusu popularly known as Efia Odo has criticised Ghanaians living in advanced countries and nagging about hardship.
She says she cannot comprehend why such people publicise their plights despite knowing they are better off there than in Ghana.
“I never understand why some Ghanaians abroad are always complaining about the hardships they’re facing…Like, shut up. You know damn well you’d rather be there than in Ghana.”
She has given such people the option to try the conditions in Ghana if they think Europe and America are that awful.
“Come back to Ghana if Europe or America is difficult!”
The call-out by the influencer has garnered comments from sections of the country with one from Italy’s Honorary Consul in Ghana.
The consul tweeted, “It is common in humans, not just Ghanaians….expats in Ghana do the same”
Another couldn’t agree more, “They want to enjoy alone over there.”
“Yes they’d rather be there and I’d agree with you if the people you’re referring to are saying it’s tougher in the US. But people are really hustling outside Ghana. It’s difficult in Ghana doesn’t mean I cannot complain when I have to do 3 jobs just to maintain a decent life in US,” said anther.
Efia Odo later retweeted a video post in which a Ghanaian was complaining about buying fast food from McDonald’s at almost GHC100.
According to her, the amount would be enough for two days’ meals had she been in Ghana.
“Honestly, wouldn’t I have gotten a better food to buy with GHC100 if I were in Ghana? I could even have saved some balance for a meal the next day. This will compel my relocation.”
Efia Odo reacted to the video with the comment, “Madame shut up”.
