Ejura Government Hospital worker commits suicide

Police in Ejura/Sekyedumase in the Ashanti Region have launched investigations after a man in his 50s was found hanging from a mango tree on Sunday (25 February).
Residents in the Ahenboboano Electoral area made the shocking discovery around midday, leading emergency services to respond promptly. The deceased was later identified as Boakye Sarfo, a staff of the Ejura Government Hospital.
Kwa-Sam Samuel, an assemblyman said, “I can confirm that the body has been identified and he is a worker at the Ejura Government Hospital…We have also discovered some exhibits, including a mobile phone on him which was switched off. We can’t ascertain whether he was murdered, or he committed suicide, and this is for the police to ascertain”, he said.
“Initially the plan was to bury the body at the scene…this is a man who had been away for about three days now. His wife tried calling him but was not successful only for her to be hit with this sad news. For now we have informed his family and the elders in Ejura because he is a native”, the assemblyman stated.
The development has left the community unsettled. With many questions and no clear answers yet, the people are waiting for the police to figure out the details of this sad incident.
This comes as the police were yet to bring closure to the case of a headmaster who was found hanging in his room in what is suspected to be suicide.
The deceased, 38-year-old Ernest Attah Kyei was found dead at about 4:30 pm on Monday (31 July 2023), after relatives inquired about his whereabouts. He was reportedly preparing for his wedding in a few weeks on August 20, 2023.
He reportedly left what is suspected to be a suicide note and some bottles suspected to contain harmful substances in the room. Some close allies have said he was in trauma after he was recently defrauded to the tune of GH¢7,000.
“We heard on Monday that our colleague was no more, and I ran to the place to see for myself, and I saw him hanging in his room with a sponge. I searched in his room and found some medicines he had taken before hanging himself. Upon further checks, we found a note he had left behind containing his father’s number on it,” a member of staff who pleaded anonymity told Asaase News.
