Farmers Day: Upper East Region’s event pushed to December 8 over financial challenges.
The postponement of the event, the statement said, is in view of recent financial challenges.
The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council has postponed the regional celebration of the 39th edition of the National Farmers Day from Friday 1st December to Friday 8th December, 2023, a yet-to-be-released statement from the RCC, has said.
The postponement, the statement said, is in view of recent financial challenges. It said at a Planning Committee meeting on 24th November, 2023, it was agreed that the date be moved forward to allow for proper planning of the event. The statement added that the committee also agreed to bring all municipal and district celebrations to a centralized location.
The statement signed by Chief Director, Alhaji Abubakari Inusah, has therefore directed all municipal and district assemblies to converge at the Jubilee Park in Bolgatanga with all awardees to mark the celebration.
“In view of the current financial challenges, there is a need to centralize the celebration at one location. The districts needed some time to reorganize themselves for the celebration since it was an innovation. In view of this, it has been decided to reschedule the celebration from Friday, December 1, to Friday, December 8, 2023.”
“Consequently, it has also been decided that the celebration would be marked at the Jubilee Park, Bolgatanga, where all the districts would converge with their awards and awarders. In view of this, MDAs are hereby requested to furnish the Regional Planning Committee with the number of persons who would be participating at the regional level for budgeting purposes.” The statement added.
