Four die in communal clash in Chereponi
One person got injured in the melee and is being treated in a hospital in Togo, she confirmed.
At least four people have been confirmed dead following a communal clash in the Chereponi district of the North East Region.
According to eyewitnesses, a local chief Abubakar Awuffor and his elders from Wenchiki were attacked in the Danbu community on their way to Nalerigu on Monday (20 November) and that resulted in a reprisal attack.
The district chief executive for the area, Hajia Nashiru Zuweira told the media that two women and two men died as a result of the clashes.

“There was a clash during the day. We lost four lives,” the DCE said. “That is the report that I had. And we have lost two women and two men, and then one is seriously injured and has been referred to the hospital in Sansanmango [in neighbouring Togo],” she added.
The DCE added that calm has been restored in the area.
“Currently, the place is relatively calm because it has been beefed up with security. A good number of police, a good number of military, and then there is an amoured car doing patrols over there,” Hajia Awuffor said.
The security agencies are investigating the case. No arrest has been made yet.
