Mike FM Launch: CEO emphasizes adherence to journalistic standards

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mike FM, a newly opened radio station in the Upper East Region, has emphasized the need to adhere to journalistic standards in the media landscape.
He said for a media outlet to earn the trust of the public and be seen as credible, it must conform to journalistic standards by ensuring quality programming, relevant conversation and news as well as ensure impartiality in empaneling guests on talk shows.
This, he believes, is critical in earning credibility and thus, urged media outlets and practitioners to religiously subscribe to such standards.
“Credibility is not conferred, it is earned and so you must demonstrate credibility through the quality of programming, a presentation of relevant news, views and interviews and the empanel of impartial discussions who can discuss issues fairly and in a more balanced manner without descending into the conflict of interest or without descending into the arena of conflict,” he noted.
The CEO, said this in a speech delivered on his behalf by Lawyer Timothy Yelbaya at the launch of the station’s operations on November 23, 2024.
Transmitting on the frequency 105.3 MHz, the media outlet has changed the sound of radio in the area and region at large as it treated listeners to exhilarating programmes through its test transmission. It also keeps its online audience up-to-date with timely online reports on www.mikefmonline.com.
It has since completed its test transmission and is now zooming into full operations.
A ceremony held on November 23, 2024, to launch its operations brought together traditional and political leaders, radio enthusiasts and many other stakeholders, who are impressed with the radio station’s output so far.
While expressing hope that the station will be a pillar in community development, Michael Luguje indicated the outlet’s quest to run impactful broadcasting.
