Nat’l Chief Imam and Ya-Na support victims of Akosombo Dam spillage
According to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), at least 31,000 persons in nine districts have been displaced by disaster.
The National Chief Imam, Osman Nuhu Sharubutu has donated GHC70,000 to support persons displaced by the spillage of excess water from the Akosombo and Kpong dams.

Crops have also been destroyed, schools shut down and the life has come to a standstill in Mepe – the worse hit community in the Volta Region – and parts of the Eastern and Greater Accra regions.
The Chief Imam, who personally visited the area, also presented the victims with a truck load of relief items. He afterwards led special prayers for all the displaced including senior citizens, mothers, children and other vulnerable persons in the 21 camps.
In a similaR kind gesture, the King of the Dagbon Kingdom Ndan Ya-Na Abukari II has also presented a truck load of relief items to the flood victims.
Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, commended the Chief Imam and the Ya-Na for their outstanding humanitarian gesture.
He said the support does not only confirm their widely acclaimed reputation for philanthropy, but also highlights their unflinching unity and support to humanity.
