Navasco gets new dormitory block to improve student accommodation
The dormitory block will help ease pressure on the existing student accommodation facilities and give students comfort for effective learning.
The Upper East Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih has commissioned a girls’ dormitory at the Navrongo Senior High School.
Dr Bin Salih commissioned the dormitory at a brief ceremony on Monday, November 26, 2024, to help improve student accommodation.
On top of that, Dr Bin Salih also presented 10 footballs, 10 set of jerseys and an amount of twenty thousand (Ghc 20,000) for the procurement of other sporting materials.
In his address, Dr Bin Salih charged management of the school, staff and students to ensure proper care is given to the dormitory and other times so they can last long to serve future generations.
To the students, the minister strongly cautioned against indiscipline and urged them to focus on their studies to secure a brighter future.
He said, “So please protect yourself and wait for better opportunities. Beautiful as you are, I see a bright future for each one of you”
For her part, the headmistress of the school, Mercy Babachuweh lauded government for re-awarding the contract which has enabled the completion of the facility. She was glad that the dormitory block will help ease pressure on the existing student accommodation facilities and give students comfort for effective learning.
“Just last week or so, this building was temporarily handed over to us. And we knew that today would come, but we didn’t know that it would come this soon. It can only attest to the fact that the regional minister’s love for Navrongo Senior High and for the Ghanaian child is unmatched”
The headmistress took the opportunity to further appeal to government to complete an abandoned 12-unit classroom facility, a 12-seater water closet and the fence wall to secure the school against intruders.
She was hopeful that the completion of these would add to existing facilities and provide students and staff with a congenial environment for teaching and learning.
