NDC will recover looted state assets – NDC Secretary

According to the constituency scribe, this move which forms part of the party's "Operation Recover All Loots" initiative, is aimed at ensuring that those who have misappropriated state funds or stolen government property are made to face the law.

Ardent critic of the New Patriotic Party government and Navrongo central constituency secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Aiden Adafula has said the incoming government will not relent in its efforts to recover state assets in the possession of current government officials.

According to the constituency scribe, this move which forms part of the party’s “Operation Recover All Loots” initiative, is aimed at ensuring that those who have misappropriated state funds or stolen government property are made to face the law.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Friday December 13, 2024, Adafula, cited several high-profile scandals, including the PDS scandal, the financial sector clean-up, fraudulent payments for the Pwalugu multipurpose dam project and the contaminated fuel scandal, as some of the issues on the plate of the incoming government to investigate.

Per Adafula’s words, the NDC once sworn into office would pursue these scandals immediately and within the confines of the law, respecting the democratic principles and the natural justice that Ghana upholds.

He said, “The NDC also highlighted the recent blocking of a 245 million Ghana cedi payment by the French team, due to last-minute appointments made by the outgoing government. This move is seen as a major blow to the outgoing administration’s attempts to plunder state resources”

He added that, “As part of the “Operation Recover All Loot” initiative, the NDC has vowed to investigate and prosecute all individuals involved in looting state assets. The party has also warned that those found guilty will face severe penalties, including imprisonment.”

The “Operation Recover All Loot” initiative which was a key element of the NDC campaign message, has been welcomed by many Ghanaians who see it as a step towards restoring accountability and transparency in government.

As the country readies to begin a new chapter on January 7, 2025, when the reins of power will be handed over to the John Mahama led NDC government, many Ghanaians are hopeful that the initiative will help to deal with the growing corruption and bring back some sanity in the public sector.
