“No gree for anybody” – Nigerian Police warn against use of popular slogan

The police said intelligence reports show that the slogan is capable of plunging Nigeria into a crisis of massive proportions.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has warned that the popular slogan ‘no gree for anybody’ being used by mostly youths can lead to crises.

The ‘no gree for anybody’ catchphrase has gone viral in the Nigerian social media space and also on the streets.

The catchphrase loosely means ‘do not tolerate any form of nonsense from anybody’ or ‘do not allow yourself to be bullied by anyone’.

However, in a press briefing in Abuja, spokesperson for the Nigeria Police, Muyiwa Adejobi, said intelligence reports show that the slogan is capable of plunging Nigeria into a crisis of massive proportions.

Adejobi said that though it is being seen as a normal slogan, the security community views it as dangerous.

“The new slogan for 2024 for young people is ‘no dey gree for anybody”, Adejobi said.

“We have been informed from our intelligence that this is coming from the retributionary sector and might likely cause problems across the country.

“No dey gree for anybody is being seen as just normal talk. In the security community, we have seen it as a very dangerous slogan that can trigger crises.”

Meanwhile, at the briefing, Adejobi revealed that three members of a syndicate have been arrested in connection with the Christmas Eve attacks on some communities in Plateau State.

The suspects are Ahmed Sulaimon, Balikisu Aliyu, and Aboki Samuel. Over 150 people lost their lives in the Plateau Christmas Eve killings.
