Ten orphan constituencies in the Upper East Region took part in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary primaries yesterday (2nd December, 2023).

In total, 27 aspirants took part in the election which was generally peaceful as there were no reported cases of chaos in any of the constituencies.

The Navrongo central constituency had the highest number of five contenders in the region. The exercise in the constituency began and ended peacefully. The situation was not different in the Chiana-Paga, Bolgatanga, Builsa South, Nabdam, Talensi and Tempane constituencies, among others.

At the end of the election, the key message that run through all the constituencies was the call on the party faithful to disband all factions and unite immediately to enable the party win as many parliamentary seats in the region as possible in the upcoming general elections in 2024.
