President Mahama should review his 60 Ministers’ promise if needed – NDC CCO
According to him, an upward review of the number of ministers should not be a problem if it is to enable the President deliver on his mandate.
The Navrongo Central Constituency Communications Officer (CCO) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kelly Babere has stated that it would not be out of place should President Mahama decides to do an upward review of his 60 ministers’ promise.
According to him, an upward review of the number of ministers should not be a problem if it is to enable the President deliver on his mandate.
President John Dramani Mahama in his campaign last year, promised to lead a lean government of 60 ministers to cut cost of government expenditure. The President, at a dinner night after his swearing-in said even though he was under pressure, he would uphold his promise.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday January 13, 2025, Babere noted that even such a review would be made, a needs assessment would be carried out and a further explanation given to Ghanaians.
Babere furthered that what Ghanaians expect of political leaders is honesty. He was, therefore, sure that as an honest President, Ghanaians would understand John Mahama when it becomes necessary to review that promise.
“If there is the need to increase the number of Ministers, he should be honest and explain the reason to Ghanaians. Ghanaians need honesty and that was not seen in the previous NPP government”
Touching on the first set of ministerial nomination by the President, the NDC mouthpiece expressed confidence in nominees to do a good job when approved by Parliament.
