Railway ministry confirms accident involving newly acquired train from Poland
A statement by the Railways Ministry said, the accident occurred at 12:10pm on Thursday (18 April).
The newly acquired train from Poland has been involved in an accident during a Site Acceptance Test (SAT) on the Tema-Mpakadan railway line, the Ministry of Railways Development has announced.
A statement by the Railways Ministry said, the accident occurred at 12:10pm on Thursday (18 April).
“… While conducting the test, an incident took place around Km 76+100. The DMU, upon approaching the curve at Km 76+100, encountered a stationary vehicle stationed right across the rail track. Despite the immediate application of the emergency braking system, the train was unable to come to complete stop before colliding with the vehicle.”
“…Thankfully there were no injuries sustained by passengers on the train or bystanders. However, there was a minor damage to the driver’s cab section of the train,” the statement added.
