Sherigu chief appeals for more infrastructure at Sherigu Community Day SHS
The chief said the lack of adequate classrooms to accommodate the increasing number of students, was robbing the school of the much-needed enabling environment for effective academic activities.
Naba Aluman Apasinaba II, the Paramount Chief of Sherigu in the Bolgatanga municipality, has bemoaned the infrastructural deficit at the Sherigu Community Day Senior High School, saying the dire situation is having a debilitating effect on teaching and learning.
The traditional ruler said the lack of adequate classrooms to accommodate the increasing number of students, was robbing the school of the much-needed enabling environment for effective academic activities.
Addressing the gathering during the annual celebration of the Naba Yesika festival, Naba Apasinaba noted that despite the difficulties faced by the school, his community was unwavering as far as commitment to the improvement of education is concerned.
“Our commitment to education is unwavering, but the current state of Sherigu Community Day Senior High School demands urgent attention. We need additional classroom blocks to accommodate the growing number of students and to provide a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.” Naba Apasinaba appealed.
Naba Apasinaba whose speech was delivered on his behalf by the chief of Dorongo, Naba Akazire Afayure, therefore, called on the government to provide the school with the needed facilities so that his people could also enjoy quality secondary school education.
