Shirlyn Wenawome, a pupil of Light House International school, has won the grand finale of the maiden edition of “My School kiddi Star” talent show held in Navrongo over the weekend.
She beat stiff competition from 12 other contestants to emerge the star of the night. For her prize, she took home a tablet, 500 exercise books and a trophy.
In an interview with Mike FM, Shirlyn attributed her win to the immense support from her family, hard work and determination. She added that her level of confidence and eloquence also contributed to her win.
“I didn’t know I would actually be the winner, but then, through God’s grace, I’m very happy for being the winner. And then I think that it’s because of the support from my parents and other family members”
“Even if they didn’t award me, at least I’ve learned a lot from it”, Shirlyn added.
She touted the learning opportunity the program has offered her and expressed gratitude to the organizers for creating the platform.
“My school kiddi star has really built a lot in me and then I thank the organizer for how far she has brought me and then I thank her for organizing this program. That’s a very great idea”
Paulina Kumbuno, the organizer of the talent show, was grateful that the grand finale came off successfully.
She congratulated all the contestants and urged them to build on their talents and not relent in seizing the opportunity to showcase themselves.
To parents, Kumbuno implored them to help their wards discover and nurture their talents and go further to invest in their craft for a better future.
“The performance they gave today was top notch and I’ve learned a lot from them. It is the reason I decided to come out with this program”,
