YEA rolls out BEAP to support small businesses

Under the programme, YEA will provide salary support for new employees recruited by small businesses and medium scale enterprises.

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) is set to roll out a new module dubbed Business and Employment Assistance Programme (BEAP) on Monday (11 December) in Sunyani to support small businesses across Ghana.

Under the programme, YEA will provide salary support for new employees recruited by small businesses and medium scale enterprises.

Speaking with Benjamin Offei-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday (8 December), Agya Yaw Nsiah, director, Office of the YEA CEO, said BEAP is in line with the government’s post-COVID recovery interventions for businesses.

“Essentially, what we are saying is that businesses in the private sector, that have the vacancy and capacity to hire but are not able to pay all the salaries of staff, will be given the opportunity to do so with some support from [the] YEA.

“So, what we are saying is that, if you are a barbering shop, photography shop etc and you need an assistance to work with, but you don’t have the salary to pay that person, we are saying that you can recruit that person,” Nsiah said.

“If the person is to be paid about GHC700, YEA will share that burden with you. So, it is a shared responsibility and to create employment opportunities for the youth and also give businesses the financial space to expand,” he added.
