The National Democratic Congress in the Upper East Region has congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his decisive victory in the just ended election.
John Mahama – the opposition party flagbearer garnered an overwhelming 6, 328, 397 votes in the crucial December 7 election against Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the governing New Patriotic Party who polled 4,657,304 votes – to return to the Presidency.

He also congratulated Vice President-elect, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, adding that her win had become an inspiration to women and a beacon of hope for gender inclusivity.
Aside from the enormous votes gained for the presidential slot, the NDC also swept all fifteen parliamentary seats in the region. The communication officer, who described the feat as historic, thanked the MP-elect for their dedication and tireless efforts.
Salifu also thanked the party grassroots and supporters for their hard work to ensure their win was solidified.
